Hello 2009

Not sure what we're doing today - we decided not to go to the cinema, so may do some crafting and maybe go for a walk?

Sitting here, the 3 of us surfing the net - sounds unsocial, but to be honest, we can chat away while being online, better than one of us being upstairs. ;)

New Year's Eve was weird ... it really feels like I am 1 week behind with everything (Christmas and New Year). We watched The Big Fat Quiz of 2008 and the new Michael McIntyre DVD yesterday - which is really FAB! Specially the "Man Drawer" and the "Loft" (pic taken while watching the DVD), nearly missed midnight, didn't have any bubbly (non-alcoholic or alcoholic) to welcome the new year ... as I said, quite weird.

Not sure if I am happy with that. Even had to take the only photo of fireworks from the TV!! :o

Currently installing Photoshop CS3 on my new laptop - the old one was not strong enough, neither is my old PC - and the new one is not set up yet. So I am planning on doing a bit of photo editing later this week.

Work tomorrow - not really looking forward to it, but hey ... I'll take the car in, drop DH off and then can drive home sharply after work.

Haven't done any New Year's aspirations yet (DH has sent me his on the 30th already), haven't picked a word for 2009 (as per Ali Edwards) either, and then there are a couple of challenges I want to take part ... one being the 365 Photo challenge from Pam (Wombat on UKS) - i.e. to produce a photo a day. Should be able to manage, just not sure if I can upload them, considering that I am shooting more and more in RAW.

Other challenges are "Use your Stash" - there's one on Dani Peuss' Forum about 100 projects (incl. cards, mini albums etc.) before you buy new stash, and Kimmy is doing Own Stash Kits. Pretty sure DH would be VERY happy with me doing either of them.

Welcome to the BritBowl XXI house... Day 1

Well... Friday usually doesn't count for the FANS of BritBowl, but the helpers start much earlier. :) We left Edinburgh at 2pm, fully packed car with the BAFL Shop stuff we didn't sell at our home games and a poor Allan being slightly cramped on the single back seat. Weather to start with was ok - so no horrendous rain like last year!!! Had a fairly good drive down the A1 but when we arrived before Newcastle we had the annual problem with the bridge crossing!! Don't know why, but arriving at the bridge at 3:30pm just doesn't work. We were stuck for about 15 mins for no apparent reason!! :( And yes, we had the same problem last year. Once we got past the Angel of the North, the traffic was flowing again. There was a car with a nocked bonnet on the other side with a police car around, so I can only assume it's that "human curiosity/morbidity" that made the traffic slow down. Phew!!! Took me longer than I thought!!! :) Maybe I should leave the crafty bits out ... I am a slow scrapper after all (found that out at the Cyber Crop!!). But have to say I LOVE that LO. Used acetate with stazon white opaque (over photo), snowflake eyelets, snowflake button and snowflake vellum sticker. The prompt today suggested we cut a paper snowflake ... well, I had three attempts and am absolutely rubbish at it!! So I decided I try my luck with a quilled snowflake ... first time ever for me to do a snowflake and you can see the wonky result! LOL.

Still struggling with sleep deprivation from Superbowl on Sunday, but hey … maybe I’ll get finally to sleep BEFORE midnight. And since 11am this morning the “little secret” from the Adamsons is now not a secret anymore. WE ARE PREGNANT WITH TWINS!!!!  The IVF run in December was positive (typical, the one we thought won’t do anything and we’ll have to go down to London to get immune issues checked out), and we had our official 12 week scan today. Both Chip and Chap are doing fine, are moving about, have all limbs and noses and chins and heartbeats. And I’m feeling as if a big rock’s been removed from my shoulders … have been reading too many horror stories about twin pregnancies resulting in just one baby born or even losing both. Think with 5 years IVF in the bag we know far too much about the medical background and are more likely to worry about what COULD go wrong instead of “enjoying the pregnancy”.
